Another Home Invasion in HPP - hikatz - 07-08-2014 Big Island Now, report of another home invasion in HPP. This is the second home invasion in HPP, both break-ins took place early morning, when people are most vulnerable, so disgusting these cowards are targeting the elderly! http://bigislandnow.com/2014/07/08/80-year-old-puna-man-victim-of-home-invasion/ http://bigislandnow.com/2014/06/04/elderly-man-assaulted-in-puna-home-invasion/ RE: Another Home Invasion in HPP - Hunt Stoddard - 07-08-2014 I wonder if there's a connection between the two? Odd that people are doing this so far down in HPP. I've heard that most crime reports are above 10th or 15th street since it's faster to get to the highway, but lower houses are probably more affluent. It takes a good five minutes to get out of HPP from 1st St. You'd think the cops would be on them by then. RE: Another Home Invasion in HPP - csgray - 07-09-2014 Both incidents down in way lower HPP recently happened to elderly homeowners. I wonder if there is a commonality between the victims that are how they were chosen? Do they have any common visitors like oxygen delivery or some such thing? Carol RE: Another Home Invasion in HPP - Seeb - 07-09-2014 They are both near beach/old government road. I doubt the police would drive their cars across that , if that's the way the bad guys are getting into HPP. Neighborhood watch should set up one of their cameras down there. RE: Another Home Invasion in HPP - eigoya - 07-09-2014 1st at Maku'u is paved to Paradise and there is clearly a Neighborhood Watch sign at the turn (on to 1st). I went to a Watch meeting once and noted over 60% of the robberies were in Neighborhood Watch areas. How would the burglar get cash? (Who HAS cash these days?) How would they know? Inside jobs? (Medical, gardening, deliveries).... RE: Another Home Invasion in HPP - oink - 07-09-2014 Those should be solved quickly. They're obviously local (as in residing on the BI), it will be "the talk" among their circle, and the police should have contacts (CIs) in those circles that will tip them off. Pua`a S. FL Big Islander to be. RE: Another Home Invasion in HPP - ericlp - 07-09-2014 If I were a thief, I would target the first road myself, since it's obvious that lots selling for 100+K are people with cash and maybe some valuable jewelry. I'd also target old people. Why bust into a house with local families that barely scraping by when you can target retired old people that have expensive homes and cars? It wouldn't be too hard to figure out who is old just by parking your car on the street and watching who drives in and out. Like others have said, if any type of "REAL" police work had been going on these creeps would have been busted already. It is very apparent that these creeps are feeding on the lack of police and doing little about it. I would imagine that it will take a few more home invasions before something might happen. That's the sad reality of living here. Maybe it's time for private security in the sub divisions? ------------------------- To email me click on Link http://is.gd/QMfVEX RE: Another Home Invasion in HPP - Tink - 07-09-2014 The cheapest private security is for neighborhood watch to be vigilant in their observations. You know who (at least I hope you do!) your neighbors are. Keep a notepad pre set up for time of day, make/model/color vehicle, license plate, partial OK, number of persons, what driver looks like first, others additional OK. Share this information with others you know, hopefully they can help fill in the gaps if something goes amiss, and together the culprits are caught by forwarding the information to the police when they show up. I know it's a pain for most, but you can find a shirt pocket sized notepad to use, maybe protect your own home. Community begins with Aloha RE: Another Home Invasion in HPP - malolo - 07-09-2014 Too bad the police-officer who used to live on Ala Heiau moved away awhile ago; my guess is the masked creep(s), who either live nearby or visit friends in the area, happened to notice. RE: Another Home Invasion in HPP - Guest - 07-09-2014 Poor elderly people. Do some of you still oppose shooting these criminals ? |
