biometric gun safes. - deserteagle50ae - 07-14-2014 I'm going to be replacing my gun safe soon and thinking about a biometric model. I'm wondering about its reliability and any pro's or con's about them, any thoughts? RE: biometric gun safes. - Guest - 07-15-2014 I like BARSKA or Viking. Don't worry about the weight, just bolt it somewhere accessible. You can have a loaded gun in your hands in under 30 seconds, and they are very accurate for fingerprints, so unless someone cuts your hand off, you don't have to worry about someone robbing your guns or accidently opening your gun safe. RE: biometric gun safes. - Andrew - 07-15-2014 Would a power outage disable the bio reader and prevent you from accessing the safe? RE: biometric gun safes. - Guest - 07-15-2014 Its not hooked to a hard line. Its battery operated, gives an alert when the battery starts to get low so you can change it out, has a back up code if you burnt your finger for some reason, and also has a emergency key. The point though is that you don't use the key you just scan and grab. RE: biometric gun safes. - deserteagle50ae - 07-15-2014 Thanks for the the info so far. RE: biometric gun safes. - Guest - 07-15-2014 I suggest the same BARSKA I own, 100%. Its on sale on amazon and as you probably know, BARSKA is quality. http://www.amazon.com/Barska-AX11224-BARSKA-Biometric-Safe/product-reviews/B002AQ0PFW/ref=dpx_acr_txt?showViewpoints=1 RE: biometric gun safes. - deserteagle50ae - 07-15-2014 Thanks for the info Oneself. RE: biometric gun safes. - deserteagle50ae - 07-15-2014 Oneself, thanks for the info, rite now its a toss up between the Barska & Browning. RE: biometric gun safes. - Rene - 07-15-2014 I have an American Security 30 gun safe. It's not the bio-metric but the electronic keypad type. I have mine sitting on a 1.5" plywood square bolted to the floor joist with 5" bolts. Empty, the safe weighs like #700, full it has to be over a #1000. It's guaranteed for life and will be replaced if ever damaged in a break in attempt. I had to remove three doors and they used a hydraulic assist dolly to get it in the house. I think if you can get this thing out of here, you earned it. I would not buy a Browning safe, they are made in China. Buy a safe made in the U.S., they are much better quality. RE: biometric gun safes. - deserteagle50ae - 07-15-2014 Thanks for the advice Rene, that's the one thing I like about working the graveyard shift. Lots of time researching on the web and having my two new dobie pups here with me at work, hahaha. |
