Ha'ena Shipman trail - eigoya - 08-05-2014
Hiked out to Shipman Beach for the first time this year today. Many, many tall autograph-leaf (and albizia?) trees were downed. Some appear to have been cut up. Anybody know when or what happened?

The trees fell over in the storm last January. 50 mph winds came out of the north and blew over quite a large number of the tallest trees. I hiked out there a few days after it happened. The trail hadn't been cleared yet, so it was pretty tough to walk around some of them - - they were huge.

Oh, yeah they were huge and someone has definitely cleared and cut and opened up some sky. Was getting worried some might still be coming down. Give it a day or two......
