Does anyone know if you can get internet in puna without a phone? thank you for all the wonderful information!

Many areas of Puna have cable, so roadrunner access is available. Check with Oceanic.

yes there is a satelite internet service approximately $100/month. none of the upper puna subdivisions have cable to my knowledge, maybe up in volcano?

Looking at their coverage map, they cover almost all of the Puna District.
The initial out lay of money is a little pricey, but not too far out of line with mainland prices. I have wireless DSL that I installed myself and the equipment cost me ~$450.00. And that was two years ago. My monthly charge is $49.00.
Wireless DSL is a lot better than dial-up, but is not as fast as cable. It works okay in most weather conditions.

My friend has a dish for satellite TV. Can that be adapted for wilreless internet?
