Do you (or anyone else) know what this is? Looks kinda like a bee, but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure if it is going to cause damage or if I can let it bee (hehe).

I filmed it putting a flower petal in the hole in the sill of my window. It's carried several in there now so far from the glory bush?

That is a leaf cutter bee, have them at my place in Shores Rec. She is building a nest in there.

I like bees! Do you know if they damage the vinyl window sil? I can't imagine how, but I have no idea.

Hi Dayna.... I'm far from a bee "expert"!! I didn't even know of leaf cutter bees! I did google this information and found it very interesting!

I pulled into my driveway and wondered why there was a bright red flower petal flying around my garage door. Always amazed at the things I see here!

The species is probably Megachile diligens, though there are several others that look similar. There are eight species of leafcutter bees in Hawaii, all introduced; M. diligens is native to the South Pacific and may have been a pre-contact introduction, since they nest in wood. Most aren't very commonly seen though.
