Driver's License - lotus - 10-10-2007 Does anyone know if you have to take the driver's license exam in order to transfer you license from another state? I've been trying to find some info on the net, but nothing so far.... RE: Driver's License - John S. Rabi - 10-10-2007 You have to take a written test and pass the eye exam. Aloha, John S. RE: Driver's License - JerryCarr - 10-10-2007 If you have a valid driver's license from another state, you have to take a written test, but no driving test. There is a study guide available for purchase, and I think they have them at the Public Libraries, too. Cheers, Jerry RE: Driver's License - wyatt - 10-10-2007 The great thing is that you get your lisence to take with you that day. If you Pass. We got our truck reg and our licenses in less than an hour. Good luck Wyatt RE: Driver's License - Carey - 10-10-2007 The requirements for drivers license are: http://www.hawaiipolice.com/topPages/driverLicensing.html The Hawaii Drivers Manual is also available online at: http://www.state.hi.us/dot/highways/hwy-v/HIDrvMan.pdf RE: Driver's License - Genxor - 10-10-2007 Lotus, You will be able to study the manual the day of your test. I would really urge you and yours to study the manual for awhile. The test is simple traffic info, but the questions can be a bit tricky. Good Luck ! Greg H. RE: Driver's License - Tolleys - 10-10-2007 You don't have to get a Hawaii license to drive legally in the state. Your current license is valid until it expires. For example my license from AZ is good until 2017, so I did not apply for Hawaii. The hitch is that if you want kamaina rates you need a valid HI drivers license or a state ID card. So I went and got a state ID card. (Note: Depending on whether you have an actual house address you might have to wait six months to prove residency to get the state ID.) For most is probably best to get the HI license… Susan Edited by - Tolleys on 10/10/2007 19:14:30 RE: Driver's License - John S. Rabi - 10-10-2007 Tolleys, you are correct, but by State law you have to register your vehicle here within 30 days and once you do your insurance company will want you to have a HI drivers license. RE: Driver's License - Tolleys - 10-10-2007 John, I did register my vihicle within days after it arrived from the maninland. I got HI car insurance with no need of HI license. Susan RE: Driver's License - ericlp - 10-10-2007 tolleys, Yep... I did that myself... I got a state ID, and kept my oregon lic. I like it because it's cheap and you don't have to take a test or anything... You can renew online and they just send you a sticker to place over you other sticker! ![]() Tho, I haven't registered my vehicle yet. It's almost been a year! Sigh.... Yeah...yeah.. bad me...bad me... ![]() ![]() |
