Holes in Clothes? - descodave - 10-19-2014

We live down in the lower area of Paradise Park & we do landscape maintenance for a living - lots of sweaty clothes (TMI - too much information!) ; my question is: what would be eating holes in our clothes - esp. our Underwear (TMI!)? What can I do to stop this? Thanks so much!

Some here may opine the some kind of powerful 'scent' is doing it.

That said, need MORE info ... Like what kind of soap, how long do they sit B4 washing and where, what are the clothes made from, are you seeing stains related to the holes or just holes ? You guys using any chemicals ? Stuff li' dat will help.

You probably have an infestation of clothes moths. Store moth balls in your drawers and closets to get rid of them.

I see no stains just holes, the fabric is cotton, I use a variety of liquid soaps, & I wash every 4 or 5 days. If it is moths, what can I use that's natural? Thanks!

Where do they sit ? Chemicals ? Food on them ?

Do you notice holes before or AFTER washing ? Something stuck in washer / dryer ? Sharp edges on holes or shredded / frayed ?

Thinking out loud while waiting for Carey. : )

Right now, before knowing above, I'm thinking mouse.

These are the holes that clothes moths make. Is this what you have?

It might be an inside job. Has your wife been trying to get you to buy new underwear? Old underwear is very comfy, but the ladies don't see it that way.

Roaches love cotton.

descodave asks;
"my question is: what would be eating holes in our clothes - esp. our Underwear (TMI!)? What can I do to stop this? Thanks so much!"

Snork responds;

Fear not! You have "Bloomer Crickets", and I know from personal experience how to get rid of them.

Go into a movie theater; and about halfway through the feature, spill popcorn on your lap. When the critters get up to get a drink of water, change seats. Hope this helps.
