I was wondering about that myself....

Best wishes

RE: Kaiser strike - Lee M-S - 01-26-2015

The article says management will be covering appointments, please don't reschedule.
But if you want to support workers...

I don't think a "manager" can provide the same quality of patient service as a Physicians' Assistant, who for some reason is lumped into the same bargaining group as the housekeepers and maintenance people. I wouldn't want someone who now mostly rides a desk and pushes paper trying to juggle multiple prescriptions with a lot of drug allergies for my partner, even if they once were trained in patient care.

...and yet, these paper-pushers are the direct beneficiaries from the Obamacare "mandatory insurance (but not necessarily actual healthcare)" scam that we're all required to pay for...

Talk about an off topic response consisting of partisan political blather!!!!!

These lower level managers at our local Kaiser are doing the same jobs as they did before ACC was enacted, top management and stockholders may be benefitting, but these are low level managers who handle the paperwork for our local Kaiser. They are not the "direct beneficiaries" of the ACC, but thousands and thousands of Americans who could not get affordable health insurance because they were self employed. or had pre existing conditions, or were college students who would have lost access to their parent's insurance plan sure are benefitting.

My sentiments exactly. Good post.

Rephrased: what good is "affordable" insurance when the care providers aren't actually available?

RE: Kaiser strike - 4antares - 01-27-2015

Once worked for a hospital system that had a strike where "managers" stepped in for staff. It lasted less than 48 hours before the managers had screwed things up so badly the administration agreed to every union bargaining demand to get the staff back immediately. The hospital then spent years paying off lawsuits generated by the management's incompetence. It was the last strike they ever had.
And the ACA nonsense posted here is just that.

life is short. enjoy it
