KOA needs $52M worth of upgrades, so let's install slot machines in HNL, and check boarding passes to be sure residents don't use them.

It almost seems "not unreasonable", except for the part where we're supposed to believe the money would be allowed to leave HNL.

With the corruption that this state has... there wouldn't be any "profits". Somehow, it would seem to disappear.

Somehow, it would seem to disappear

...before ever leaving Oahu.

The only way I would support this idea is if the state would also allow me put down $100 that it'll never work as stated.

If I win, no real estate taxes for life.

This is a wonderfully cynical and unfortunately true discussion.
I think Las Vegas in the middle of the Pacific is a great idea

The only benefit would be the number of new union employees, employed by the state. Any real profits would simply never be realized as the costs to implement and maintain the program would outweigh the revenue.

costs ... would outweigh the revenue

Putting them inside the "sterile area" of the airport would mitigate many of the usual "security problems", so there's a small chance they'd still "make" money.

I know, I know...

isnt she the same wacko that wanted co-ed restrooms in all public buildings?
with all the real issues in hawaii why do our representatives put their energy into these things... it would be another bunch of money that would "disappear"..

Wouldn't get too excited for this, anybody know if it passed first reading? Hawaii would have to legalize gambling first and that isn't going to happen. Sounds like somebody has been spending too much time flying back and forth to Reno and Vegas.

Tax all gambling at 50%. Money goes to infrastructure only.
