2015 property tax assessment ..Down again! - messing - 03-17-2015
Well just got my hawaii county property tax assessment (Hawaiian Beaches) .......and of course my property value went down ....again!
I think they are slowwly lowering the values so they can keep getting some money out of us for property taxes!

Note that County simply adjusts the rates to derive the required revenue from any given valuation; the actual value isn't important for this purpose.
There are also exemptions to consider.

My stay the same as last year Most of the time tax value is lower than market value.

It's very common for "assessed" value to be lower than "market", this deters the property owner from disputing the valuation, because it would be revised upward.

I have two lots in Orchidland. One vacant, one with a house. The assessment with the house went up a lot, the vacant lot went down just a little.

We live in Nanawale farm lots. Our assessed value and market value went down considerably, lower by 18%. I assume it's due to the lava situation.

I live in Hawaiian beaches and my taxes went UP???? Who do I complain too? haha well, went only by 5K Funny, tho... Property value went down from 8,400 to 7,200 Oh well... I still only paid 5,500 for my lot about 3 years ago, so I'm still ahead! [:p]
My lot in fern forest where we are probably going to relocate to, went up 700 bucks. Anyone interested in moving to Hawaiian Beaches?

We bought a lot in Fern Forest last year and its value (for tax purposes) dropped by about 7%. It is in lava zone 3 and not at risk from the June 27th flow. The valuations seem kind of random. Since we plan to keep it, this is not a problem (except for making us think, "Did we pay too much?").

I live in HPP. Mine went up just slightly (about $3000.00)
