Yikes!

Last time I was there someone drowned and now this. Definitely good to be aware of what you are getting into before entering the ocean.

Hope this man recuperates and gets back in the water someday.

Aloha mai kakou

Does this lend more credibility to theory that sharks bite, taste, then reject humans? Certainly a shark of this size could have done far more damage.

Oh yea no doubt pbmaise. They do just that: bite, taste and reject non-normal food like us humans. If that weren't the case shark attacks would be way more frequent and fatal. Can you imagine how scary it would be to swim in the ocean if they enjoyed eating humans?

It's important to be able to differentiate between species when dealing with wild animals. For example; To tell the difference between an Alligator and a Crocodile, remember that one will see you later, whereas the other will see you after while....

I've spent thousands of hours in the water. Never seen a tiger. Weird how someone on a vacation in the water once or twice gets bit. What are the odds?

It was a Hawaiian Sovereignty shark !
