This is pretty cool for Puna.

The map takes forever to load but the link to the cameras is pretty quick. You can also see the lava flow cameras. We have now crept into the late 20th century !

Interesting....

Thanks for this. I wonder it shows the traffic flow, I guess eventually the a computer can tell how the flow is going (car flow) and show red or whatever. Might be a great tool for heading home. RED? Forget it. Go shopping or whatever or sit in traffic! Joy!

Yes, long overdue, but notice, installed in secret so no "activists" would try to start a class action lawsuit scam about invasion of privacy. It was kind of a no-brainer, the poles carrying electricity and cable internet go alongside the highway. Mahalo to Uncle Billy for getting this put in.

"Aloha also means goodbye. Aloha!"

Secret is out:

Unfortunately, the heavy javascript makes it less suitable for dialup or older smartphones, as in "you get nothing", unlike the HVO cameras.

RE: Traffic cameras - leilanidude - 03-28-2015

These are the cell phone trail cams that were mysteriously installed about 6 weeks ago. They are solar powered and not hooked up to the electric lines nor the cable internet.

RE: Traffic cameras - kalakoa - 03-28-2015

not hooked up to the electric lines nor the cable internet

Of course: the electricity is flaky and internet is "not available in your area"...

RE: Traffic cameras - kalakoa - 03-28-2015

The traffic cameras are apparently subcontracted to the same "ICX Transportation Group" which received a $1M "management consulting" contract from HDOT as part of the Oahu rail project.

I suspect that these cameras are also being used for ANPR, but ICXTG has very carefully avoided any mention of this possibility.

I wonder when we'll see some of these on Road 8?

RE: Traffic cameras - lavalava - 03-28-2015

Only in Puna do we get bush cams/trail cams/hunter cams! What a hoot!

RE: Traffic cameras - MattKarma - 03-28-2015

No like.

RE: Traffic cameras - MattKarma - 03-28-2015

Tremendous coked irony here, difficult to explain...
