Amazing... But according to that schedule....it's only one way. You would have to stay on the bus all the way back to the main bus station downtown and then get on a connecting bus to go to Puna. But I guess it's a start.

A very low fare bus system subsidized by the county is a great benefit to the area. It doesn't go to the airport because that would hurt the taxi, shuttle, rental car and parking area businesses. For Puna, if regular stops at the airport were made, then the bus would be like the first shuttle in getting to the airport, all you have to do is walk on with your luggage. It would only benefit Puna convenience. As a matter of fact, I don't recall ever seeing public buses in Portland going through the airport either.

They don't need buses in Portland....they have light rail all over including the airport. Also Maui and Kauai both have the same low fare county bus service as we do...yet they both make hourly stops at their respective airports.

Yup, I remember it was a big deal about 10 years ago when the max went to PDX. I've taken it a few times as well... I always take the bus service (unless I can get a friend to pick me up HNL) on Oahu. But the bus service on Oahu is pretty nice. Not as nice as oregon, but it's damn close. Tho, your through in lite rail and the bus seems like a joke.

if they ever went near the Kona airport, ALL the taxi drivers on that side would lose BIG $$$$... never happen IMO

So your saying the taxi drivers in Kona are a special case where as the taxi drivers on all the other main islands aren't a special case and that's why the county bus goes to those airports? Or are you saying that the reason it's never gonna happen is because maybe the taxi cabs on the west side have some county officials in their pockets?
