Without a photo guesses could range from rats, to pandas, to pigs, but rats usually have that double front tooth gnaw pattern, and often in a circle... not sure about pandas, but you probably would notice them in your yard (the panda part is a joke) and pigs may not be as interested in bamboo (depends on the yummy factor of the `boo & how hungry they are), usually they leave a noticeable hoof trail in the wet soil.. but could also be an insect...if the nibble are small RE: What's eating my bamboo? - Lee M-S - 05-16-2015 maybe your neighbor is fixing stir fry and needed bamboo shoots?
