They rent them pretty cheap at Home Depot. They break down pretty small for transportation too.

Thanks, guess I'll have to check.

My thinking was 2 days rental would be a big bite out of purchase price as these are pretty cheap, but even worse, I tend to keep rental stuff longer than anticipated..

Shipping might make this impractical... unless maybe it were part of a larger order -- a pallet of big tools (concrete mixer, generator, etc) could very well be cost-effective.

I've always just used an 8 ft. 2x4 with about a 2ft 2x4 tacked on the end. A pair of these is all you need to drywall a ceiling.

Just call me Mike

Yup, shipping is the killer. HF, EBay, Amazon, checked them all.

Well Mike, not exactly - a second person is somewhat required, especially for the initial lifting Smile
Wife and I have installed 4x12 on vaulted ceiling with this method, but that was about 20 years ago. Interesting to read the comments from people who did this for years then finally got a lift.

But it is my final option Smile

HF doesn't even ship to Hawaii?? Unless you figured out a different way to get it here?

HF doesn't even ship to Hawaii??

In the past, I've put the order together online, then called in for a human to work out the shipping. Cheaper if you pick it up at the terminal.

RE: Drywall Lift - David M - 06-15-2015

I've shipped HF to here before, just not always reasonable.
HD rental is $30/day
The good news is a friend has a lift to lend me.
