Hawaiian Registry - knieft - 09-06-2015

http://www.oha.org/registry A simple form download and no blood test!

Hoping everyone submits their form so they can vote, and/or be voted for, and have a card that certifies their Hawaiian ancestry. (I plan on adding a PS to my birth certificate and getting a really good tan.)

I, personally, am hoping to be a delegate, and through hard work and dedication to superiority principles based on my parents and their parents and their parents' parents and their parents' parents' parents and their parents' parents' parents' parents become the new King of Hawaii. I pledge to unite the islands through every means possible. I mean, Maui? Fudge Maui, no? Oahu? Bunch of dingbats. I kinda like Kauai though--they crazier than us! Point of parliamentary procedure, eh? Hoser?

Perhaps this belongs in the politics forum, but I thought everyone living in Hawaii should participate and, perhaps, let OHA know if you think you are Hawaiian like they are...? Kinda like a mass cyber attack only through snail mail...?

I would post the link to the full page ad in today's Hilo paper, but alas, it was an ad in the printed version and I can't find a link to it online. Still, we don't need no stinking _links_ cause its all about the aina and the keiki.

Lest you think I am pulling your lariat I plan to have opihikao as my queen, if she will oblige me (she can eat a spam banana whenever and wherever the heck she wants to!) and we are gonna ROCK ROCK ROCK till my daddy takes the T-Bird away!

Cheers,
Kirt

RE: Hawaiian Registry - Punatic007 - 09-06-2015

Sounds fabulous and just what we need here.....more racial divisiveness! Will it be just like a caste system? Superiority and specialness for some but not all? Say it isn't so!

PunaticBondJamesBond:

"Superiority and specialness for some but not all? Say it isn't so!"

It's already so. But about money, Hawaiian, Japanese, Haole, or State/County politics money...sorry, a bit cynical today.

Cheers,
Kirt

RE: Hawaiian Registry - terracore - 09-06-2015

I'm learning more about racism every day.

RE: Hawaiian Registry - kimo wires - 09-06-2015

No blood quantum required?
What kinda BS is this. Good Grief.
Can I register my cat? He's born and raised..

RE: Hawaiian Registry - knieft - 09-06-2015

On a whim I googled the poster child/woman on the OHA site's example of the card.

Only this birth announcement came up from May 2010:

"Miani Mikala Kawehi Onalani Amatagafou Epifania Freitas-Faamai"

shows from here: http://archives.starbulletin.com/content/20100530_Vital_Statistics

The young woman shown in the photo could be a precocious 5 year old, not likely, but maybe she simply has no record online. The expiration date is interesting, though. Have these been issued since 2013? My ignorance is large for sure. Probably picking nits...

...but there are many ways to "photocopy" records.

Does OHA have access to the DMV data base? Census records? Should be interesting. I always felt I was a wimp not applying my daughter to Kam schools and settling privately, but whatdya gonna do? Have another kid? A million here, a million there...

Oh my, Kirt, you are a jewel. [Big Grin] Humbly, I must say your nomination for "Queen" is apparently due to my writings here on PW. Merely a reflection of my Kupuna teaching. Mahalo ke Akua, e na Aumakua, e na Kupuna.

Now, in a perfect world, if you please, the conditions for acceptance of this honorable task would be:

1) There shall be no "King" nor "Queen". Each Hawaiian National will have equal rights. No one shall serve anyone, and no one shall expect to be served.

2) All people who resides in Hawai'i nei at this date, no matter race color or creed, nor blood quantum, shall have the right to participate in all matters relating to Hawai'i. Dual citizenship is acceptable, and all people will have the right to be heard.

3) Kupuna shall be fed, cared for, and revered by all people. The cost of care for Kupuna shall be the responsibility of the Nation/Kingdom/(whatever). They shall always be fed right after the keiki (due to protocol, Kupuna always want keiki to eat first. 12 & under.)

4) Keiki - The keiki shall have education to the college level. The Nation/Kingdom/(whatever) shall be responsible for funding. The keiki shall be provided shelter, food (3 meals per day), clothing by both the parents and the Nation/Kingdom/(whatever).

5) Taxes - All people shall pay a flat Ten Percent (10%). On the honor system. [Wink] All businesses shall pay a flat Fifteen Percent (15%). (Perhaps based on gross income to avoid manipulation of "expenses", etc.". Not sure yet. Suggestions?)

6) Development - (Forget it, not touching this one. Well, in the best interest of the majority. Copping out...lol)

7) Law Enforcement - The Law Enforcement division shall be tailored to mirror the below, with modifications to specific needs in each area: (*Reference: "Law Enforcement - Pre-Contact Hawai'i"//Roots, etc., sections)

http://www.honolulupd.org/department/index.php?page=history

8) OHA/DHHL/KSBE (maybe...just sayin') shall all be reviewed, dissolved, and restructured to serve all the people of Hawai'i. No longer will race, color, nor creed, nor political attachments dictate the use of funds held by these entities.

9) Utilities shall belong to the people. All public utility entities shall not be held by any private sector, nor shall any entity hold a "monopoly". Water, Electricity, Mineral Rights, and all other resources in Hawai'i, shall be managed by the people.

10) All of Hawaiian nationals shall retain their property and belongings as of this date: ____________. The residents who choose to remain American citizens shall not be penalized, nor evicted from the land. The residents who are from other countries, who hold dual citizenship, shall retain all rights afforded to Hawaiian nationals.

11) As to mele(Song), each person shall learn ten (10) of the songs on the list found in the link below ([Wink]):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_compositions_and_works_by_Liliuokalani

So it shall be written. So it shall be done.

Seriously, this issue will never, ever, ever, be understood by all. This thread was initially sort of offending, to tell the truth, knieft. However, in digesting your basis for posting it, it became clear that we do share the same bloody frustration. Perhaps in different ways, but the frustration is real and very clear.

This whole damn OHA crap is just that: C.R.A.P.(Centralized, Ridiculous, Asinine, Protocol). There is hope for some final resolution to all this CRAP, and at the end of the day, we're going to have to learn to get along (ala Rodney King; circa 1992).

Welcoming all suggestions, improvements, etc., to the SHALLS listed above. (Ducking...)

Have a good evening all. Onipa'a kakou. Until the last aloha.

Oh, P.S. knieft: For the love of God, a SPAM banana?!?!?! You better get that sucka patented tout de suite! I won't eat it, sounds gross, but whatever rocks your boat, or TBird. [Big Grin]

Wouldn't it be nice?

Before resting, we should have great hope, and conviction in individual belief. May they all meld together at some point.

Far more appropriate, as it may be, "the impossible dream"...

opihikao:

This thread was initially sort of offending, to tell the truth, knieft. However, in digesting your basis for posting it, it became clear that we do share the same bloody frustration. Perhaps in different ways, but the frustration is real and very clear.

Thanks for digesting the offensiveness, so to speak. In fairness, folks on both sides of the issue have called for some sort of unification of the Kingdom movement, and truth told, how else would anyone go about it. Too bad it is OHA. But who else, I guess.

In looking over your platform, the first is a bit disconcerting to me. I hope you mean all are equal but some are more equal than others. Doncha know: It's _good_ to be da king!

Seriously, 1, 2, 4, 6, and 10 are pretty much the same as Hawaii has it as a US state.

It takes courage to delineate what you believe should be the rules, so I will play along in the same spirit.

Social Security and its cousins are the attempt to deal with this, minus the staggered eating system. I think folks should be free to decide what they eat, how they eat, with whom they eat, and when they eat. Not sure if you're being tongue-in-cheek here, but if you aren't they'll be no spam bananas for _anyone_. Wink

5) Taxes - All people shall pay a flat Ten Percent (10%). On the honor system. All businesses shall pay a flat Fifteen Percent (15%). (Perhaps based on gross income to avoid manipulation of "expenses", etc.". Not sure yet. Suggestions?)

I love flat taxes and remember way back when Jerry Brown (not really my cuppa tea but...) was thrown over the metaphorical cliff for proposing a flat tax. If the legislatures (fed and state) could not give tax gifts to anyone, the lobbyists' influence would be very much lessoned. I think your numbers are high, especially the 15% business tax which is a not so invisible add-on to the personal tax, or more properly the sales tax. But flat is good. Honor system for businesses as well?

7) Law Enforcement - The Law Enforcement division shall be tailored to mirror the below, with modifications to specific needs in each area: (*Reference: "Law Enforcement - Pre-Contact Hawai'i"//Roots, etc., sections)

http://www.honolulupd.org/department/index.php?page=history

Ouch. Not sure if you are talking about a return to kapu or what...
Then again, might be better than the probation system of justice where you have to kill somebody twice to get sentenced. Wink

8) OHA/DHHL/KSBE (maybe...just sayin') shall all be reviewed, dissolved, and restructured to serve all the people of Hawai'i. No longer will race, color, nor creed, nor political attachments dictate the use of funds held by these entities.

Yippie! Don't think any of the entities will help in their own maiming, so it's likely impossible dream stuff. KSBE has always bothered me the most. Ditto reverse. Should I be able to start a haole-only school? (Scrambling for cover under the bed...) Wink

9) Utilities shall belong to the people. All public utility entities shall not be held by any private sector, nor shall any entity hold a "monopoly". Water, Electricity, Mineral Rights, and all other resources in Hawai'i, shall be managed by the people.

We probably disagree on how well government (the people?) manage _anything_. Then again, the gains of not having "the profit motive" will be offset but the politics/inefficiency of total government control--perhaps its a wash either way. Meh. The governments and the utilities are already so entwined I'm not sure it would make much difference. Hopefully so.

11) As to mele(Song), each person shall learn ten (10) of the songs on the list found in the link below ():

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_compositions_and_works_by_Liliuokalani

Really? That would be a law of the land? Maybe if you include some Carpenters songs, and maybe if you lowered it to 5, it would be a small price to pay for the rest of your items... I don't even want to think about enforcement--makes safety checks look pretty harmless. Wink

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6inwzOooXRU

So I think we're down to the eating rules and some clarification on the police--likely good to go since I am a real compromise kinda guy at heart.

An omission from your list stands out. Kupuna and keiki get government support, but what about the in-betweeners? That's gonna be quite a blow to the EBT/grocery store subsidy system. Hand-in-hand, we can likely defend against the slings and arrows coming at us on this omission, but it isn't gonna be pretty. Wink

Seriously, this issue will never, ever, ever, be understood by all.

I know I will never understand it, even in part. The whole premise is one of past reparations having some sort of merit--an idea that just doesn't resonate with me. But so what, I don't expect the world, or any of its members, to share my resonations.
