I remember my dad once offering my nephew and niece a penny a leaf to clean up his back yard. Ended up costing him 50 bucks.

my mom used to pay a penny a pound for weeds. We thought we were clever to put pebbles in the with the weeds; turned out she was happy to pay for rocks just to get us out of the house.
