Hele -On Bus - macuu222 - 12-14-2015
I need to fly out of Kona and does anyone know if there is a bus leaving from Hilo main terminal that will pass by the airport in Kona so I can then walk down to the main terminal?

Looking at the maps....the only bus that drives on hwy 19 past the airport is the bus from Pahala. The Hilo bus to kona travels via hwy 190.

Just did. They have "one" bus that leaves Hilo daily at 3:40 am that takes Hwy 19 all the way around to Kona. Kona airport is not a scheduled stop but if your awake and pull the cord just before the turnoff...the bus driver will let you out at the light.

They don't go to either airport because of the pressure the taxi people have put on the County. they don't want to lose the business.

Yes, the taxi drivers have exerted pressure for years to keep buses out of the airports, but as I was headed into the Hilo airport last month for an outbound flight, I saw a Hele-On bus leaving. I checked on line, and got this info:

Saw some crazy stuff on the Hele-On bus; found out first hand why my local pals called it the Hele-No bus! Saw two ladies throw down and start a "Jerry Springer" style fight between the Airport and Honoka'a once. Driver slammed on the breaks, they flew forward, he tossed them out right then and there!
"Awe! 'Hell-No' bus shenanigans!" the Guy next to me laughed as we drove off leaving them on the side of the road
