Window broken at Pohoiki - LavaOcean - 12-15-2007

As Im sure whoever took part in this must be proud of themselves.

Well theres a first for everything. Yesterday after fishing a rough morning on the water I came back to my truck to find my window broken, how nice. Nothing was stolen so must hve been someone with other reasons. This is the first time Ive ever had to deal with this type of crime and hopefully the last. If anyone hears anything please let me know. Thanks in advance.

effin punks!

Maybe... just maybe... some one drove by and a rock got kicked up into your window from the tire?

Was there anything of value? If nothing was stolen it seems weird, unless there was nothing of value.

Just a quick question. I've never seen what your car looks like. Does it have a "Lava Ocean Adventures" sign on it? If it did, it might be some tripper w/ a problem w/ your company.

I've heard of tourist cars getting broken into all the time.

Price of living in Paradise... huh?

Hope you had insurance that would cover some of it.

Thanks for the tip Shane. WE don't plan to take our family there until things get better. The Ohia Ohana

I go there all the time and never a problem, hopefully it was an accident. I have heard people talk about the separation of the boat landing and the swimming area but never heard of Lava Ocean mentioned at the same time. The crowd over by the surfer beach seem a little bit roudy but I park there also and no problems.

RE: Window broken at Pohoiki - LavaOcean - 12-17-2007

no nothing stolen thats why it seemed kingd of targeted.

No Lava Ocean makings on my rig just a plain old ford pickup truck.

Dont let this deter you from using the people park that what who ever did this wants, Pohoiki is a great place for all to enjoy.

This is the number one problem in Puna. Not the volcano, not the coquis, not mold or rain or centipedes or tsunamis. This strikes at the relaxed way of life we all seek. It is not one guy. I'm sorry this happened to you. Insurance does not take care of the sense of violation, and the uneasy feeling that what is taken every time this happens is a piece of paradise.

There is another perspective. I think it's sad that Pohoiki has changed so much in recent years. I can understand what a terrible loss it must be for those people who grew up here to have it overrun by mainlanders. The typical mainlander's attitude is that they have a right to everything. If anyone dares to suggest otherwise they are aghast. But,the truth is that your presence is ruining Puna. It's a sad reality. Some Puna natives are sad or angry and probably feel helpless to stop the rape of the place that they have always called home. Breaking a window won't stop the flood of FOBs, but I can understand why someone might feel angry and frustrated and helpless enough to lash out. It's not right, as far as right and wrong goes, but I can understand it and I'm sad for their loss.

Fran, I understand your frustrations.

So what can be done to work together to diffuse this Haole vs. Local system?

Finger pointing will not do any good.

Working together to find a solution to the problem will work better then blaming the "haole" or the "FOB's" etc.

Many of us have moved to Puna within the last 30 years and then pretend that we own this aina.

Everyone needs to work together. How it can be done is something that we can all look forward to.

the morons who do this don't single out people from the mainland, or philipines, micronesia, etc., unless of course it's someone who has a personal vendetta. this crap happens to all, and most of the time it's just whom ever is unlucky enough to have their car break down over night.

this is a problem that isn't gonna go away anytime soon. Though it has improved tremendously. Hawaiians are always gonna hold animosity towards the haoles in rural Hawaii. As I expressed before here. As more Micronesians commit crimes here in Hawaii against tourist. The more pissed off the Hawaiians get! Why? It's simple, Hawaiians are singled out as the perps. This causes the locals to get pissed at the ignorant Haole Tourist, and the low-life Micronesians who commit the crimes. So who suffers? Both of these races do. They both become singled out. Which in turn causes aggravated assaults. It's slowly getting worse here on the Big Island. But this exact situation is waaaay out of control on Oahu.

isn't that the truth!

Handle every situation like a dog,If you can't eat it or hump it,piss on it and walk away...
