Honolulu airport food service worst in nation - macuu222 - 01-26-2016 They are right.. Never eat there. The food taste bad and its the most expensive of any US airport.(even Los Angeles). If you need to eat there...join an airline club lounge where the food and drinks are better and free if your a member http://www.staradvertiser.com/business/business-breaking/honolulu-airport-food-service-worst-in-the-nation/ RE: Honolulu airport food service worst in nation - Lee M-S - 01-26-2016 ever notice that "California Pizza Kitchen" doesn't serve pizza? and how come all the "restaurants" are closed by 6pm? ><(((*< ... ><(("< ... ><('< ... >o> RE: Honolulu airport food service worst in nation - Mr nice guy - 01-26-2016 I had a double whopper at the burger king. Yeah, it was expensive, but it was a good hamburger. Why are you eating at an airport if you are concerned about food quality? RE: Honolulu airport food service worst in nation - TomK - 01-26-2016 Have to admit dining options aren't great at HNL, but the mess at the Hawaiian Airlines terminal before security is a much bigger issue in my mind. It's a disaster area, especially when there are a bunch of flights leaving for the mainland all at roughly the same time. Last time I was there (a couple of weeks ago) even the TSA Pre line was out of the doors. RE: Honolulu airport food service worst in nation - Kenney - 01-27-2016 The fish and chips are good in the bar. Portions getting smaller, but still tasty! RE: Honolulu airport food service worst in nation - Lee M-S - 01-27-2016 Update, since I had to pass through HNL this morning and evening: California Pizza Kitchen has been replaced by something with a name like "Hot Dogs on a Stick" or something The bar entry has been redecorated with faux beach wood. I didn't eat at either, so can't comment on the food. TSA there now have the higher-radiation scanners. You don't have to go through them if you have your TSA precheck ticket IN HAND when you get to the scanners. As you may guess, I had put mine in my bag, which was being xrayed, and I had to go through the high-rad scanner AND got patted down as well. What a joy that place is. And while I'm griping, how come first-class passengers get to cut in line at TSA? TSA is a government agency, not supposed to be run by the airlines... ><(((*< ... ><(("< ... ><('< ... >o> RE: Honolulu airport food service worst in nation - KeaauRich - 01-27-2016 Lee asks "And while I'm griping, how come first-class passengers get to cut in line at TSA? TSA is a government agency, not supposed to be run by the airlines..." My understanding is that TSA's jurisdiction begins at the actual checkpoint. The rope lines to get to the check point are considered part of the lobby, which is the airline's territory, so they get to give some passengers priority. . I'm pretty sure that when there is someone actually checking to make sure you get into the correct line, that person is not a TSA employee (but don't quote me on that...) I assume TSA goes along with the two-tier system because most folks in the "premiere" lines are predominantly frequent travelers who know the drill, so they can process these folks more quickly. RE: Honolulu airport food service worst in nation - Lee M-S - 01-28-2016 Rich, thanks for explaining that. The woman herding the first class passengers WAS wearing a Hawaiian Airlines shirt. ><(((*< ... ><(("< ... ><('< ... >o> RE: Honolulu airport food service worst in nation - Kapoho Joe - 01-28-2016 quote: Next time, just casually join the group. Your mileage may vary but this has worked for me many times over the years. Most memorably, I got into a behind the scenes tour of the Louvre by acting casual and blending in! RE: Honolulu airport food service worst in nation - leilanidude - 01-28-2016 Just fill out the app and pay the $85 for the TSA Pre Check. It is good for 5 years. |
