Support the library.
I kinda of wonder if we all invested in a cheap house down in Beaches or ainaloa / HPP and turned it into a "PRIVATE" quiet, library with AC and HIGH SPEED internet, and comfortable chairs.... Would anyone be down with pooling 50-80 people together to make a non-profit space for all of it's members?
Would have to be an area that has roadrunner available.

During the 2014 Legislative Session, $800,000 was allocated to plan and design a new library in Puna. I have joined with the Hawaii State Public Library System (HSPLS) to hold community input sessions in Pahoa, Mountain View, and Kea’au to help drive the planning for library services, programming and space. A dedicated library building requires that everyone drive to it, which stimulates the economy (gas tax, registration, insurance, maintenance for vehicles and roads, traffic tickets). Broadband is an economic drain by comparison.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but it seems like traditional libraries could be on the way to becoming obsolete. Providing widely available high speed internet would put a lot more information at people's fingertips without having to drive. I can see a need for helping people who don't have computers or good connections with an access point, though. San Antonio and some communities in Georgia have built digital access centers at a fraction of the cost of traditional libraries. I don't know what the public response has been so far. I took the survey, and it pretty much assumes that everyone both uses a library and would want a new one. I used the blank spaces to propose some other options, but I don't know if that's what they want to hear.
