Were any of these criminals caught in puna? - Guest - 03-28-2016 http://www.kitv.com/story/31549717/us-marshals-hawaii-task-force-makes-160-arrests-targeting-fugitives Do we have room in our state prisons for this many added fugitives or will they be flown to mainland prisons? Really, Almost 7 million generated by bail alone? Probably a lot of seized properties, cash, or drugs with that kind of sweep, 8,000 fugitives nation wide. Most of these caught fugitives had very long arrest records, lifetime criminals. Great job HPD. These sweeps are probably a good thing, especially after those recent shootouts at McDonald's or walmarts with a couple of wanted fugitive's. RE: Were any of these criminals caught in puna? - Kapoho Joe - 03-29-2016 Big Island Total Arrested: 26 Total Warrants Executed: 33 Total Bail from Executed Warrants: $119,125 RE: Were any of these criminals caught in puna? - pahoated - 03-29-2016 Don't forget, quite of these really horrendous crimes are being conducted by mainlanders, usually "No known address" here in Hawaii, but having come from some mainland state. There have been some recent murders where the mainlander is sentenced for many years in a Hawaii prison system, paid for by tax paying kamaaina. The average cost to keep a prisoner with acceptable right to life is about $100K each per year. The fact is long time career criminals are a good export for Hawaii. Start exporting felons to mainland prisons-for-profit. The state can't run prisons cost effectively due to bureaucracy. The per year fee for a prisoner to be kept in a mainland prison would less than keeping them locally. Exporting felons would be a big tax saver for kamaaina. "Aloha also means goodbye. Aloha!" I guess that's what they mean by career criminals... Must be paying off for them. RE: Were any of these criminals caught in puna? - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 03-29-2016 career criminals... Must be paying off for them. I don't know. Did you look at the photostream which included pictures of the criminal's residences? Most of the houses didn't scream "Lifestyles of the Rich and Felonious." Geez Louise!
