Street address - JG-HPP - 04-02-2016

How can I determine the physical address of a newly-built house with no numbers in evidence?

Then, if I send the Humane Society there on an animal cruelty charge, will they do anything?

RE: Street address - Kapoho Joe - 04-03-2016

Isn't a TMK and directions enough? Like road name and pole #?

RE: Street address - leilanidude - 04-03-2016

Everything in HPP should have an actual address. Simply look it up in the property tax records. No TMK needed. Use the map and zoom in, then click on the record for the details.

RE: Street address - Lee M-S - 04-03-2016

I reported an owner with starving dogs; Humane Society said they'd check it out. A couple months later, I called again. They said they hadn't gotten around to the complaint yet.

Maybe you'll get a different result.

Everything in HPP should have an actual address.

Address assignment generally happens when permits are issued; vacant lots (or unpermitted construction) probably do not have an address yet.

a newly-built house with no numbers in evidence?

By law the address number must be posted, along with the permits if the project has not been finaled.

Unfortunately we have very lax laws regarding animals rights on the Big Island basically to protect hunters with their dogs from any prosecution as they roam all over everywhere and warehouse the disposable dogs when not in use. And also in support of Rooster fighting. Walmart sells "game" rooster food.

There are definitely some responsible hunters here yet still enough who are not as can be viewed by driving down hwy 130 to see the dogs chained up on a short lease all day everyday except hunting day. We came really close a few years back to having some decent legislation but it was blocked by a politician in exchange for a large voting block at re-election time. I'm trying to remember the guy's name, what a cad, so many suffering animals in Puna sacrificed in a shady deal. Human depravity at it's finest.

When I called the Humane Society about my (then) neighbors who had basically abandoned their dogs, they came that very same day. Directions and description of the house should be sufficient.

RE: Street address - mermaid53 - 04-03-2016

I've had success on more than one occasion with the Humane Society showing up to assess the situations I've called in.

Once they called while at the address and asked me to explain again what the issue was. After I explained, the person agreed. Later the owners moved the dogs and their houses to a shadier location. Still chained to the dog house, still on top of gravel, 3 side by side w/15' space in between, BUT in a shadier spot.

RE: Street address - Punatic007 - 04-03-2016

His name is Herke, the guy who blocked humane legislation for pets on the big island.

I have a street address but no permits. You can get a street address for raw land. You must email somebody at the county with your TMK # and request an address. It can all be done by email.
