The Sovereignty Divide - dakine - 04-22-2016 Anyone concerned, who has an opinion, or is developing one, about Hawaiian sovereignty and the Hawaiian renaissance in general might benefit from taking the time to watch Hawaii News Now's special feature The Sovereignty Divide in which two of our former governors, Ben Cayetano and John Waihee, discuss the issues involved. I found a lot of good information in this half hour broadcast that is now available to be watched online at: http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/clip/12365857/sovereignty-divide The biggest eye opener for me is the fact that the whole race based issue (explained by John Waihee beginning about 5:20 minutes in) is being imposed on the Hawaiian community by the US Government itself. Image that, the Feds, who are supposed to be racially blind are imposing a race requirement on this process, not the other way around. RE: The Sovereignty Divide - kimo wires - 04-22-2016 I watched this Discussion intently and Waihee was on point when he said that Hawaiian institutions are under siege. Always outsiders filing suits alleging that these institutions are racist. He Said its about ancestry and not about racial segregation. Questioning who's actually being racist. Good point. On the other side of the coin both ex-govenors agreed that there is no leadership. No one clear reasonable direction. From the Status Quo,The way things are and likely to remain, to the middle , Recognition, and the Extreme, Complete independence. The Hawaiian community is greatly divided. Cayetano going further to say that we have spoiled the new generation. That they are babies with no life experience. And he said that this current group, referring to the TMT protesters, are especially the most Narcissistic.
