Elderly man dies at Keaau Transfer station - Shoresresident - 05-27-2016

Paramedics and fire personnel at Keaau Garbage dump a couple of hours ago. Anyone knows what happened?

Accident.
Keaau Transfer Station is closed the rest of today.
Traffic cams show highway 130 is open.

Sounds like a toxic spill if they are keeping it closed all day.

Drunk driver woman backed up into a seventy something year old man and pinned him against the canisters. He died. My condolences to the family of the man.

This is a sickening story.
Heartfelt condolences to the Ohana and all touched by this tragedy.

Aloha to the ohana of this poor man, and all who witnessed this whole incident.

The woman allegedly is a repeat offender (drunk driving). [Sad!] So tragic, and senseless. She will have to live with this for the rest of her life, obviously.

Mahalo to the first responders, and all involved, who tried to help him in his final moments. Hopefully, he knew he was not alone.

Never forget that our actions and decisions, will forever affect others; many others. Both good ones and bad ones (decisions).

I only hope he did not suffer too much in his final hour. SO sad. [V]

Very sad. I believe the man was 79. I have zero sympathy for drunk drivers.

Just wondering, I'm curious as to how you heard she was a repeat offender? Tragic story, just trying to uncover all the facts.

Check the (her) public records, or call the HCPD (during working hours at the non-emergency number #(808)935-3311; not sure they will divulge the current investigation information, however, her record is "public information").

This man died due to a very, very bad decision. Let us all take note of the consequence when you drink and drive. Again, I hope he did not suffer too long, nor feel alone when he passed. The term "rest in peace" is not applicable here, in my mind, as there is no peace when things like this happen. Imagine the pain his family will endure for the rest of their lives...
