Aloha, Tink! This is such a profound post... Mahalo.

Today, many are enjoying the sun, the beach, barbeques, and ohana, thankfully. Many have given their life for these moments. That is who I was thinking about today, Tink...All those who gave their life for what we call "freedom" in this country.

Also thought about their families, and their sacrifice. About their mo'opuna who will be told stories about those who were heroes. There are so many heroes who live right here in Puna. Bless our soldiers/ warriors, who gave the ultimate sacrifice, for us.

Leaving you all with this, a tribute to our heroes. Mahalo ke Akua, e na Aumakua, e na Kupuna. And all who served in their own right.

The National Memorial Day Concert in Washington, D.C. 2016, PBS Presents (4 hours long, FYI):

This statement below also represents truth:

For us, warriors are not what you think of as warriors. The warrior is not someone who fights, because no one has the right to take another’s life. The warrior, for us, is one who sacrifices himself for the good of others. His task is to take care of the elderly, the defenseless, those who cannot provide for themselves, and above all, the children, the future of humanity.

Mahalo nui to our soldiers, for your sacrifice. Mahalo, again, Tink, for the post. Aloha to you, as always.

JMO.

P.S. Apologies for sounding a tad somber, but today, in my mind, is for reflection, and being thankful for all who served our country.

Aloha and Mahalo Opihikao, our thoughts are together. Were you aware that a stretch of highway 99 near Manteca Ca. ( just South of Stockton) is dedicated to the 442nd?

This is dedicated to a veteran friend of mine.

Taps

Day is done, gone the sun,

from the lake, from the hill,

from the sky

All is well, safelty rest. God is nigh.

Thanks and praise for our days

'neath the sun, 'neath the stars,

'neath the sky.

As we go, this we know. God is nigh.

As you say the words think of TAPS

(BBM) [:0] No, I didn't know that, Tink. How wonderful! (A bit teary eyed, watching the above link in DC, which is so well done...) My Daddy was just "Daddy". We ate "MRE's" on Thursdays, as he "spit shined" his shoes on the front porch... I also recall vividly, taking the phone of the hook every night (the old phone, with the dial and long coil cord) so they would not call him to active duty (circa Viet Nam/small kine keiki time). E kala mai, TMI.

Aloha, mermaid, thank you for that kind reminder. (*See 1.1840 at the DC link above for "TAPS".)

Have a lovely evening, all. (Waiting for everyone to leave so we can start the clean up. Almost felt like serving "MRE's" to these people in my house! lol...[Big Grin])

JMO.

ETA: Forgive me for my "menopausal moment", however, I believe a personal mahalo for your service is in order, Sir.
