Time warner no more in Hawaii? - ericlp - 06-01-2016 Just got a letter in the mail saying.... Time Warner just got bought out by Spectrum... Oh well! We can only hope they provide better service and are managed right. Hopefully the rates don't go up or caps (limitations) on bandwidth... Maybe other subdivisions will be wired in the future? RE: Time warner no more in Hawaii? - Hawaii Bound - 06-01-2016 There is no more Time Warner Cable anywhere. They were purchased by Charter Communications along with Bright House. They use Spectrum as their brand. The franchise agreements that were in place were approved to fall under Charter. What that means is that Charter will have the same requirements that Oceanic TWC had as far as building our infrastructure. I believe that is 25 homes per mile but I could be mistaken on the exact number. RE: Time warner no more in Hawaii? - rbakker - 06-01-2016 Slight sidetrack: a little birdy told me that cable internet will soon (4 months?) be coming to HPP Maku'u, in the black spot from 3rd to 14th streets. Call OTWC and sign up if you don't want to wait too long. RE: Time warner no more in Hawaii? - opihikao - 06-01-2016 Great news, rbakker! Can someone make sure "Kalakoa" get some real time, internet service!!! Please and thank you. [] JMO. P.S. Oceanic has been really awful the past few months, blaming "the weather", and other mitigating circumstance. Keep in mind, we're in the middle of the Pacific, and potentially, not on the "priority list". We'll take what we can get! |
