I walked out to the beach near uncle Roberts yesterday and stayed till sundown. The little trail of fire was lit up coming down the mountain. Smoke billowed off the fire and when the sun was just about gone all the clouds near the trail of fire were glowing orange.

It's very ironic that the Chain of Craters roadwork so far is enough to get a front seat view of the lava flow heading towards it when the CoC was an alternative exit route. The county is being a lot more mellow about sightseers this time around. It makes sense, encourage the tourist traffic. For some reason, when the lava flows south, it isn't sacred but if it is flowing northeast, it is sacred and needs to be protected. Fruit loop lack of logic reigns supreme in Puna. Lava is not Pele's blood, it is more like oil leaking out of a mech suit.

It's not the lava that was being protected in Pahoa. It was peoples private property that viewers felt entitled to tramp across to see it.
In Kalapana, the County had the foresight to bulldoze a road on public right of way straight to the flow.

Comments about Pele and religious aspects to the 2014 flow arose mainly after it was suggested lava might be diverted away from Pahoa and other populated areas (talk of sacred in response to talk of diversion). No one has suggested diversion this time, have they? (no talk of the sacred)
