Ex Hawaiian Acres Neighbor Flint Harrison - Hapunatic - 07-25-2016

About a year ago our very nice neighbors in Hawaiian Acres moved back to Wyoming because the wife missed the snow at Christmas. Their home was put up for sale on December 26, 2014 and it sold in the spring of 2015.

Flint Wayne Harrison and his family were as nice as could be, always pleasant, smiling, friendly and sober. They were "born again" Christians that went to church in Puna every Sunday and had fellow church goers over to their home for BBQ's. Some of you may know him and went to church with him.

He built a greenhouse and started growing veggies and loved living in Hawaii and reluctantly moved back to the mainland to make his wife happy.

We had not heard anything about them for over a year until a couple of weeks ago our neighbor saw breaking news on all the national tv channels.

Apparently Flint's wife divorced him and his life went downhill from there. He got into meth with his older son that lived in Utah. Long story short they held a mother and her daughters captive, beat them with a baseball bat and then killed a railroad worker, slit his throat days later.

Flint was found this morning hanging in his jail cell.

This is just an unbelievable story and shows just how bad meth is and what a threat it is to our community. This is the polar opposite of the behavior of this man while he lived here in Hawaiian Acres.

The hooks the mainland has in you after much of a lifetime spent there are deep and hard to remove.

There are plenty of people who spend their entire lives in Hawaii and get involved with meth and then destroy anyone and anything they can reach. I think it is more a matter of personal psychology than geography.

Wow! Talk about a quick fall.... When I was in high school near Seattle, I remember some friends and others I knew, got in a rolling gun fight in Burien, Washington, over drugs of some sort. Drugs have, and bad choices, have screwed up a lot of lives.

OMG, what a story! Goes to show you...watch out for the perfect nice guy. I only trust people who can show some anger, frustration and other normal emotions. The always nice guy is either hiding something or he is stuffing all his negative emotions which will eventually surface, usually in the wrong place and time.

Grim talkstory about malihini meltdown but it is just one of many. That is the first time for missing the snow and Christmas. Christ-mass has been used like a Pavlovian dog experiment on the consumer christian population, so it is understandable to watch people start salivating in early November. Until you can snap out of the conditioning, there are all kinds triggered responses going on.

People are "born again" usually because they were messed up before. Every convict on death row is "born again", mainly because it means they are forgiven of everything. It was also a good con in the 60's to get a reprieve from governors.

The stories of malihini meltdowns are way more common than stories of successful kamaaina transplants. People keep saying Hawaii is like a third world country, which it isn't. But they fail to realize Hawaii was a different country and still is in many ways. Spousal differences account for a lot of malihini meltdowns, the other is total lack of planning. The impulse kamaaina-wannabe is probably the source of most malihini meltdowns.

Not quite -- more like 2.5.

You missed the part where this happened AFTER they moved back to the mainland. This sounds like more of a marriage meltdown than a "malahini meltdown." The guy might not have gone off the deep end if his wife left him while they lived in Hawaii, instead of after he moved to Wyoming to make her happy.

Is someone still a malahini after they leave Hawaii anyway?
