The Story of Stuff (Sustainable Development) - Fishboy - 01-11-2008 My niece is in Ireland working for a consultant involved in Sustainable Development. She sent me this link to a twenty-minute video that I found interesting, but a bit loose with statistics. The Story of Stuff explores the full life cycle of what we buy and the political-economic history of conspicuous consumption. If it accomplishes anything, it raises awareness about ecological limits. You can watch it at www.storyofstuff.com. I know it seems long, but many people with a sensitivity for what our conspicuous consumption does to the planet will find this intriguing. I think it tells a very clear story and pulls together a lot of the ills of our current life. Worth a look and some thought. |
