But before we go down with the ship, the CNN article states: Midway Atoll, is also considered a critical region in the establishment of Native Hawaiian cultures and the site of long-distance voyaging Making a quick search I could only find reference to it's "discovery" in 1859 in the wiki article: Midway has no indigenous inhabitants and was uninhabited until the nineteenth century. Does anyone know what occurred on Midway Island in human or Native Hawaiian history before that date? - Be pleasant to inefficient workers; give them undeserved promotions. - Work slowly. - Refer all matters to committees for "further study and consideration. - Hold conferences. - Make travel as inconvenient as possible. - Haggle over precise wordings of communications. - Advocate “caution.” Be “reasonable” and avoid haste. Hawaii actually has 137 islands. The area is remote, the islands were already protected. This expansion is widening the protection into the deep ocean on both sides. Very little effect on Hawaii island and Hawaii island fishermen weren't going to be fishing in that area anyway.
