Hawaii's bees now on endangered species list - Rob Tucker - 09-30-2016

Hawaii's only native bees placed on Endangered Species list

HONOLULU Federal authorities added seven yellow-faced bee species, Hawaii’s only native bees, for protection under the Endangered Species Act Friday, a first for any bees in the United States.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced the listing after years of study by the conservation group Xerces Society.

The group says their goal is to protect nature’s pollinators and invertebrates, which play a vital role in the health of the overall ecosystem.

all bees need to be protected, but as long as monsanto controls congress it won't happen. I try very hard not to spray and plant pollinators. a bee guy that removed a hive for me said one of their favorites was poho berries. wouldn't have guessed that, i know they love love love my jicama and my squash blossoms..

Bugs, fungi, or mites may have been released to kill the bee's.

The many dead or dying Ohia tree's in the area for the last 10 years may also contribute to the loss of Hawaii's Native bee's. The many native birds that pulled nectar from the Ohia tree's flowers may be next. jmo

what does Monsanto have to do with Bees? dont be stupid.. there are over 25,000 different species of bees in the World. Monsanto has been around for 115 yrs now.. Glyphosate 66 yrs now... Roundup 40 yrs now.. are bees extinct.. No

quite trying for trash talk a company and blame them for unrelated BS!

one prob with western honey bees/Apis mellifera is artificial hives harbor pathogens... and the western honey bee is native ONLY to Europe, Asia and Africa, so was introduced to the other continents and is considered an alien species there, ie in USA, Canada, Mexico Brazil, Australia, Hawaii, etc....

save our indigenous and endemic Hawaiian Plants... learn about them, grow them, and plant them on your property, ....instead of all that invasive non-native garbage I see in most yards... aloha
