need to get rid of crap pallets - terracore - 10-07-2016 I accepted a few dozen pallets for some DIY projects and I've used all the good ones. I have a half dozen or so that are left that were in bad shape (too broken up, half rotten, etc) to be of any use. What's the best way to dispose of them? I noticed the green waste sign at the transfer station has "Untreated Pallets" as an accepted commodity but it's crossed out. If anybody wants them (though for what use, I don't know, they are in poor shape... firewood?) I could deliver them for free within reasonable distance of OLE/HPP area but only if somebody wants all of them, not a onsies twosies type thing. RE: need to get rid of crap pallets - EightFingers - 10-07-2016 Maybe those pallets could have "an unplanned release of smoke". RE: need to get rid of crap pallets - Justin - 10-07-2016 If you put them at the bottom of the mulch pile, you'll have some good dirt in a few months. RE: need to get rid of crap pallets - Chunkster - 10-07-2016 What Justin said. Been there, done that. RE: need to get rid of crap pallets - knieft - 10-07-2016 Remove the metal first. Cheers, Kirt RE: need to get rid of crap pallets - MarkP - 10-08-2016 It has always surprised me how quickly pallets rot, given how hard the wood is to start with. RE: need to get rid of crap pallets - terracore - 10-08-2016 Me too. They seem to last a long time if used under a roof but left outside not even Thompson's water seal makes a difference. I'll probably wind up just throwing the junk pallets into our vacant lot and letting them melt into the jungle. RE: need to get rid of crap pallets - dan d - 10-12-2016 u could bring them here in HPP Im doing a test BIOCHAR to see if we can remove and sequester the carbon in the affected Ohias from ROD contamination Send me a email aloha Dan D HPP RE: need to get rid of crap pallets - terracore - 10-12-2016 Thanks for the offer. I think the pallets have a home but if not I'll certainly hit you up. Your test sounds interesting, what is it? RE: need to get rid of crap pallets - ElysianWort - 10-12-2016 Stack them up near an unwanted weed tree or waiwi guava and light. Eliminate the unwanted plant and carbonate the pallets. Return with a magnet to pick up the nails after the ashes have cooled. |
