He was an underappreciated actor and he was robbed, robbed I tell you, of the Academy Award for best actor when he portrayed something he wasn't: an intensely conflicted homosexual cowboy.

Yes, Glen, he was robbed of the Oscar. Having known a number of "intensely conflicted homosexual cowboys," I can tell you he quite realistically got the idea across. A terrible loss.
