Best Day Ever At Maku'u Market - Carolann R - 01-27-2008
...okay so Tony and I are going to the market like every Sunday for veggies and maybe a coffee...
We happen into friends who are required to purchase 4 or 5 meals and write an critique. Anyway...they asked if we'd like to help and it's all on them. Oh MAN talk about mannah from heaven!!! (I remind myself I did manifest this afterall...)
So we had: pumpkin coconut curry; garlic shrimp; chicken and peanut sauce with asparagus; Carlos' tamales and beans and rice; pork and fried noodles (forget the regional name); a mushroom, cheese and spinach crepe with capers; and the piesta de resistance was a crepe with nutella, bananas and fresh whipped cream. Now four of us were digging into these amazing dishes - but we were all stuffed and I don't think I tasted ONE dish that was not awesome...so hard to believe our little "farmers' market" can put out this level of faire...YUMMMM. (Even got Mr. Dirgo to dig into the chocolate/hazelnut crepe!) If you haven't tried these foods at Maku'u...you're really in for a treat!

I'm just sorry I ran into all of you so late. I missed out on a lot. But the Nutella/Banana Crepe was pretty awesome.
