Had a great lunch today - Honi Wai / Mountain View - Rob Tucker - 03-21-2017 It's nice when a restaurant is a pleasant surprise. When it is I want to tell people. Honi Wai is at about the 12 mile marker on Hwy. 11. Walk in to a nicely remodeled plantation era building. Tasteful decorating. A small set up with a guitar in a stand for live music. A sweet gal named Tutu was our waitress. The menu was not extensive but a hot pastrami sandwich sounded like the thing. Frankly I wasn't expecting much. When the lunch arrived it was great. Great bread, great pastrami, great cheese and it was sided with a really nice salad. Then the live music started. At noon. It kept on getting better and better. Try it out. RE: Had a great lunch today - Honi Wai / Mountain View - TomK - 03-21-2017 Thanks, Rob. I've passed it many times but have never stopped there. The online reviews (Yelp and Google) are excellent! It's on my list. I did have to look up "bubble tea" though! RE: Had a great lunch today - Honi Wai / Mountain View - kalakoa - 03-22-2017 Honi Wai is at about the 12 mile marker on Hwy. 11. If coming up from Keaau: Honi Wai is on the left, just past the big water tank on the right (which is just after the Dimple Cheek "permanent farm stand"). The parcel is "legacy commercial", so it only took them 2 years to get permits from County. RE: Had a great lunch today - Honi Wai / Mountain View - Kenney - 03-22-2017 Thanks Rob. Your personal recommendation is enough for us to try it next trip up the hill. RE: Had a great lunch today - Honi Wai / Mountain View - lquade - 03-22-2017 been there several times, always great food. and yes, the county gave her hell and that was the old tinny fisher place, the antique shop that was there for years and years and years... RE: Had a great lunch today - Honi Wai / Mountain View - Lee M-S - 03-22-2017 Your recommendation seems to have created a surge in business; at 10:30 this morning, their tiny lot was full and cars were parked on the shoulder of the highway. Of course, the customers might have been drivers taking a break from the horrendous backup caused by roadwork further down the highway. RE: Had a great lunch today - Honi Wai / Mountain View - hooligal - 03-23-2017 On my list of favorites, a real treat (and surprise) in Mt View. * I'd rather fail at happiness than succeed at misery * RE: Had a great lunch today - Honi Wai / Mountain View - allensylves - 03-25-2017 Thanks Rob. We ate lunch at Honi Wai today. Garlic shrimp and Greek sandwich were great. Allen Finally in HPP RE: Had a great lunch today - Honi Wai / Mountain View - Rob Tucker - 03-25-2017 Great.
