Tiny beetle, very annoying - AinaloaGirl - 04-26-2017

Does anyone know how to get rid of these tiny beetles that fly around at night inside my house, alighting on my computer screen and my bare hands? I captured one under my hand microscope: very tiny and definitely a beetle. I talked to a pest company, and they said that the beetle was a "ground beetle", that they had no method of erradicating this annoying insect, and that the problem would persist another few months.

Please weigh in if you have any solutions.

Tighten all your screens, check for holes or gaps, vacuum them bugs that do get in on ceiling and walls. My husband bought some kind of zapper which doesn't reduce the numbers much, but entertains him......

That sounds like a "Barrel bug" or "Beer Bug", look's like a V.W. Van? It's a powder post beetle, related to termites.

they are attracted to your lights... the dimmer the lights the less beetles that will fly through your screens at night.... if its the same kine I have they are small enough to go through a screen.

maybe use curtains, or shades on the lights

save our indigenous and endemic Hawaiian Plants... learn about them, grow them, and plant them on your property, ....instead of all that invasive non-native garbage I see in most yards... aloha
