Introducing Myself..... - LMMinica - 01-23-2006 Aloha, My name is Lisa, my husband jmminica has already been talking to everyone here and seems to have meet some very nice people welcoming him to parties, fishin, and such. I am really stressed right now about the move(I'm not going to lie) My husband is leaving on the 5th and me the 28th. Can't say it does not make me a little nervous w/ 3 animals, 4 kids, and countless "belongings" to lug. But I really want to be there sooner. If that makes any sense. I am 37 yrs old. I love the water, or anything that has to do w/ the water(except surfing-I have this crazy shark phobia) But I like to do all kids of stuff outdoors-luv to fish-(your fish like to bite-even the tiny ones, so my husband learned) But basically I would like to make some friends-it's hard to leave everyone, but we all make sacfifices and look at where I am going..to Paradise!I hope to make it selling jeweley, I make some cute stuff that has sold well in WA. state. But my main job is Pharmacy Tech. Lucky me I don'thave to take any tests in Hawaii. One was enough. That will help w/ finding a job as I have about 8yrs experience w/ the drug world(legal drugs) I am happy to be coming to the Island, the worries subside most of the time when I think about how beautifuland warm it is there. I can handle the bugs, cute little geckos-that scare you in the bathroom at night, and everything else that you may have to "tolerate" to live in such a peacefull place. Tired of the crazy traffc, commutes,,no ocean winthin 2 hrs away. Etc..I am looking forward to maybe meeting some of you sometime-maybe a big fishin trip... Mahalo- Lisa P.S. Thanks for listening to my "Blah-Blah" Coming to Hawaii!! Yeah! RE: Introducing Myself..... - punafish - 01-23-2006 Aloha and welcome Lisa! Sounds like you've got the right mindset to attract lots of friends in a short period of time. We'll can't move until June, so thank your lucky stars your move is right around the corner. Good luck on your move! Aloha! Tim RE: Introducing Myself..... - kimmickal - 01-23-2006 Hello, Lisa. My name is Laura Kimmick and I live in Henderson, NV. I have a husband, a daughter, 15 (9th grade) and a son, 3 (4 on March 19th---pre-school). We will be living in or near Hilo when I and/or my husband get hired as a TSA (Hilo Airport)-me or a Power Plant Technician (Puna Geothermal Venture)-husband. Where in Hawaii will you be living? Aloha. RE: Introducing Myself..... - Naomi W - 01-23-2006 Hi Lisa, I am Naomi and I still live in Southern Oregon. Me and mom are still working on the planning stages of moving to the Puna district. Nosey question. Why do you get the 3 animals, 4 kids, and stuff? I would trade with husband. ha ha ha Everyone on the forum is great, very helpful! Naomi RE: Introducing Myself..... - Bill - 01-23-2006 Aloha Lisa, My name is Bill. My Wife and I are moving to Pahoa around May 1st. and know what you are going through. Our house is being painted today, and will go on the market Sunday. We have been packing, selling, donating, ect., for the last couple of months, so we're almost there. It was below zero this morning and knowing that this will be our last winter in Alaska is keeping us driven. I have to admire anyone making the move with the added responsibility of children and can understand the stress. Paradise is worth it. Bill RE: Introducing Myself..... - HADave - 01-23-2006 Hey Lisa, had the pleasure of chatting with Mark and now it is a pleasure to here from you as well. From my wife Peggy and myself we wish you and your family a very happy and prosperous new life there on The Big Island. Remember, A new life from Rain to Rainbows )))) ALOHA! HADave & Peggy.... From Maine RE: Introducing Myself..... - LMMinica - 01-24-2006 [quote] Hello, Lisa. My name is Laura Kimmick and I live in Henderson, NV. Aloha. Thanks all who replied-Makes me feel MUCH better. To answer teh question "where will I be living" Well my husband is trying to get us into Hilo, we have pets and it will be a challange to find a place anyway(and 3 kids) So we have certain things we just must have. IE-fenced yard, more than one bath, and at least 4-5 bedrooms. So hopfully Hilo area, but mot of his construction work seems to be on Kona side so we have to go where the wind blows us....Aloha Lisa Coming to Hawaii!! Yeah! RE: Introducing Myself..... - mella l - 01-24-2006 Aloha and welcome Lisa! Hopefully some of us will meet your husband at the First Punaweb party in February, and he can fill you in on your potential new neighbors!! LOL There are many discussions here and there about home schooling vs public schooling that I have read over the past 2 years. As I don't have children none of the info stuck with me. If you read thru all the forums archived and old posts you will get a feel for it. That said, it really depends on where you settle to decide what you will want for your children. Perhaps when you come over you can visit the different areas and schools, not sure if you are looking at grammar, middle or high school, then make some decisions. Good luck with the new adventure for you and your family. Mella L mella l RE: Introducing Myself..... - ronald48 - 01-24-2006 Aloha Just out of curiosity, which subdivision is everyone moving to and why did you pick that particular one. Just getting a feel of what areas are popular for newcomers.Mahalo, Ron ? RE: Introducing Myself..... - Glenn P - 01-24-2006 We bought in Orchidland for several reasons. It's at a good elevation 500 to 650' so not too rainy and gets a fair amount of sun. Also it's very convenient to Hilo without the high prices of Hilo real estate. Also we wanted some acreage. The people seem to be exceptionally friendly here as well, but I guess that's true so many places here in puna. |
