In 1962, Sam Panopoulos first topped a pizza with canned pineapple and ham, in Canada, and called it Hawaiian Pizza. The rest is... history? Gastronomic travesty? Would we cut him a little more slack if had he used fresh pineapple and spam?

Certainly fitting that a Greek immigrant in Canada would come up with the fusion of the Hawaiian pie!
