lava rock wall, sign at end of Paradise - DTisme - 06-23-2017 Last night, apparently around midnight, some drunk ran full speed straight into the lava rock wall at the end of Paradise in HPP, taking out half the wall and the ginormous arrow sign at the 90-degree turn. Cops took him away. RE: lava rock wall, sign at end of Paradise - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 06-23-2017 If he was going full speed ahead, pedal to the metal, he must have run the stop sign at Beach & Paradise too. Sometimes regarding traffic signs as optional works out (Beach & Paradise), sometimes it don't (rock wall). RE: lava rock wall, sign at end of Paradise - rbakker - 06-23-2017 Same thing happens a couple of times a year at the end of Makuu. RE: lava rock wall, sign at end of Paradise - EightFingers - 06-23-2017 He should be out by Monday. RE: lava rock wall, sign at end of Paradise - TomK - 06-23-2017 I drove down that way this evening and saw no obvious skid marks on the road before the bend (other than the usual donuts by the stop signs). I think the sign and the wall saved the house just behind it and/or prevented the driver from an unplanned dip in the ocean. RE: lava rock wall, sign at end of Paradise - Kenney - 06-24-2017 I'll bet hitting that rock wall was unpleasant. Driving with the fishes doesn't sound like a great way to end an evening either. I hope he learned a lesson. RE: lava rock wall, sign at end of Paradise - kalakoa - 06-24-2017 Fortunately for County statistics, none of these incidents "count", as they all happened on "private" roads. RE: lava rock wall, sign at end of Paradise - Rob Tucker - 06-24-2017 I hope he pays to repair the wall. Kind doubt that will happen. RE: lava rock wall, sign at end of Paradise - Tink - 06-24-2017 If it was city property, you bet it would be repaired(eventually) but you would be darn sure they got their money through a destruction of private property fine first. For HPP, that's for the job of the attorneys they have hired to argue the road fee usage. Community begins with Aloha RE: lava rock wall, sign at end of Paradise - SoCal_to_Hawaii - 06-24-2017 Shouldn't the driver's insurance pay for this? |
