WATCH FOR MOTORCYCLES!!! FATALITY in Pahoa - Kapoho Joe - 08-24-2017

Had the misfortune of seeing a body covered in a yellow sheet on 130 right at the stoplight intersection with a mangled bike nearby. Please look twice, bikers are people too.

It was a hit and run too... I am disgusted in the way the police have handled this. At 7pm, the body was still laying there on the blacktop, more than 2.5 hours after it happened. No ambulance in sight.

That's pathetic because I drove past at about 4pm!!

Turns out the deceased was a contractor from Seaview with a wife and young children. My thoughts are with them in this, their moment of grief and anguish.

I really hope they throw the book at the hit and runner.

If the victim was dead on scene they may have been waiting for the County coroner to show up and remove the body, and not an ambulance. Waited 6 1/2 hours for a coroner to show up at a structure fire to take the victim away while kids were daring other kids to "look at the burned up man" while I nailed up plywood to what was left of the framing to block the view.
Edit to add: I have noticed quite a few motorcycle riders wearing a "GoPro" camera on their helmet for photo evidence if they are hit by someone, not a bad idea. I gave up riding on the road because it made me so nervous with so many "entitled", or just plain stoned drivers that it took the joy out of riding.

Sorry to hear this. I'm a life long biker and will keep ridimg till my health makes me unsafe to ride. Hit and run makes it even worse. I believe they caught the pos that hit him. If he caused the accident, may he rot in jail.

This happened at 2:51PM

And according to big island news....

The pickup truck, which police say failed to properly yield while making the turn, fled the scene. Jackson was taken to the Hilo Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 9:56 p.m.

Is it just me? Or does it make that much sense to leave a body on the road for nearly 7 hours?
