Healing from Alaska - Slade - 09-12-2017 This has been a cold wet summer here in Alaska #128527;I visited about 3 winters ago & loved it the people where friendly & lots of dancing #128131; I work hard in the summer & bring my $ to spend in Hawaii hopefully wanting land some day, I m looking for a small rv or conversion van , where on the island can u park camp safe for long periods of time? I need to heal my mind & rest my soul , & the other thing is I'm a metal artist would love to make some kinetic sculptures I also window clean I was wondering how that dose on the island? I know a lot of locals don't want bums drugged out zombies, I'm a hard working young man, single trying to make my way , so any helpful info is much appreciated #127774;#128011; RE: Healing from Alaska - Carey - 09-12-2017 There are no long term camping areas on island... if you buy a lot & you neighbors are OK with you camping, there is that.. As for an RV, there are also no "Dump" facilities on island...so you will have to do something with the waste water (other than dumping it in a ditch!) Course a dry well drain is really just an open grated cesspool.. so there is that EWWIE comes to mind....but waste water is one of those things we like to ignore, until the subject backs up on us! RE: Healing from Alaska - Slade - 09-12-2017 I hear u there, lol #128514; yes I was going to look @ land while I'm there , I want to garden a lot in Alaska it's only like 3 months of gardening #128542; RE: Healing from Alaska - eigoya - 09-12-2017 My seventh winter in Alaska (mostly in Arctic) had the longest span of negative 50 or below weather recorded. That summer was cool and wet(lousy). The next winter wasn't getting any better either, and while waiting in the car for my son to finish shooting/biathalon practice after a 3 mile ski at -25, I saw an ad for a similar position to the one I had then in the Interior on the Big Island. There's much I love about Alaska, but weather is not one of them. Get training there. Much more professional opportunity in Alaska. Come here with something to offer (that pays rent) and life can be sweet. Good luck. RE: Healing from Alaska - Slade - 09-12-2017 I've owned 4 cleaning company's in my life & can clean 300 pains of glass a day lol & pressure washing I love yard work to RE: Healing from Alaska - randomq - 09-12-2017 Best bet is to find a hippy community in one of the puna subdivisions with acreage. Easy to find folks that will let you park at their place for a few bucks a week and/or workshare. RE: Healing from Alaska - leilaniguy - 09-12-2017 quote: RE: Healing from Alaska - Mac2017 - 09-13-2017 Leilaniguy u crack me up bro. That is so true. Just like the meth house on Kahukai a couple of years ago that amazingly burned to the ground after the neighborhood got sick of it not being handled. No one admits to doing it, but they all chuckle when they tell the story. RE: Healing from Alaska - Mimosa - 09-13-2017 Rent a space at Kulani Honua for $15 a night and branch out from there. Drum circle down the rd on weekends at clothing optional - nude beach . Camping is squatting .Must get a state and county permit to be legal for camping . RVs are not really an option - where are you going to discharge your doo doo? Land is far cheaper down Kalapana Gardens area . Cinderland or the Shire both will take you in for a weekly fee and work share options. Mrs.Mimosa RE: Healing from Alaska - Obie - 09-14-2017 There is an RV dump in Hilo at the treatment plant. County wastewater treatment plant, 108 Railroad Ave, 808-961-8338. Free. |
