Sterilight UV water system quartz tube question- Bonus... Now With Answer! - terracore - 10-07-2017 Is there any point in checking the quartz tube? The manual is kind of vague and removing and replacing the quartz tube is a huge PITA. Because we use rain water I speculated that there wouldn't be any mineral buildup and didn't check the quartz tube at the first annual UV light replacement. When I did check it on year 2, it looked fine. So the next time I waited three years before checking it, and it looked the same after three years as it did at 2 years. At this point I'm ready to wait 5 years before checking it again, or is that a waste of time as well? RE: Sterilight UV water system quartz tube question - EightFingers - 10-07-2017 If it's clean it's OK. Silicon has a fairly long lifetime. That said, when I was on catchment, I had to clean mine every couple years. RE: Sterilight UV water system quartz tube question - Royall - 10-07-2017 I've seen a few that were very cloudy when inspected. I clean them with muriatic acid. RE: Sterilight UV water system quartz tube question - terracore - 04-17-2022 Well I inspected the quartz tube today for the first time since posting this thread. There was a small amount of light brown residue on it. It wiped right off with some CLR. So I'd say 4-5 years for the win. |
