Can you taste the vog? - punafish - 02-22-2008 I'm thinking this is the worst vog I've seen in Pahoa since moving here a couple years ago. I can actually taste it, almost chew on it. Thanks to this, I'm now waiting for an appointment to get antibiotics because nothing else I've tried has made any improvement on my system and now I've got these adorable little pustules all over the inside of my throat! RE: Can you taste the vog? - sittall - 02-22-2008 The vog was so bad in Hawaiian Beaches this morning that everything was wrapped in a white haze. Walked the four blocks to the ocean and saw it visibly sitting on the horizon over the water. BUT while looking I did see a couple of whales breach out of the water. Amazing sight and fairly close to the land. Its noon now and things are looking more clear, thank goodness. We're hoping that the trades start to kick in again soon. RE: Can you taste the vog? - JerryCarr - 03-02-2008 When the usually reliable trade winds are blowing, the vog is much worse in HOVE (and Kona) than in Puna or Hilo. The recent prolonged interruption in the trades, while unusual, is not unheard of. In my seven years of travelling to and living in Puna, the recent vog here in HPP has been the worst I have experienced. I am sure longer-term residents can remember worse than that. Thankfully the past few days have been better in our neighborhood. It's even drizzling this morning.
