I'm thinking this is the worst vog I've seen in Pahoa since moving here a couple years ago. I can actually taste it, almost chew on it. Hope the trades pick up soon!

I think the vog is what wore down my immune system long enough for me to get strep. Thanks to this, I'm now waiting for an appointment to get antibiotics because nothing else I've tried has made any improvement on my system and now I've got these adorable little pustules all over the inside of my throat!

The vog was so bad in Hawaiian Beaches this morning that everything was wrapped in a white haze. Walked the four blocks to the ocean and saw it visibly sitting on the horizon over the water. BUT while looking I did see a couple of whales breach out of the water. Amazing sight and fairly close to the land.
Its noon now and things are looking more clear, thank goodness.

The TH has an article about how bad the VOG has been.
I then looked at This Image and it looks like Hilo is engulfed in smoke from a fire.
I've never seen it that voggy[V]

It has been bad in Hilo for the past week. We can see the town from our place and it looks like it's covered in a haze. We're hoping that the trades start to kick in again soon. [

With VOG so bad in Hilo and Puna, I was wondering how it was in Kau and HOVE in particular?? I'm thinking, if I build in Puna, maybe I should also consider a VOG escape shack near the top of HOVE.

When the usually reliable trade winds are blowing, the vog is much worse in HOVE (and Kona) than in Puna or Hilo. The recent prolonged interruption in the trades, while unusual, is not unheard of. In my seven years of travelling to and living in Puna, the recent vog here in HPP has been the worst I have experienced. I am sure longer-term residents can remember worse than that. Thankfully the past few days have been better in our neighborhood. It's even drizzling this morning.

My concern is that the vog, at the current rate it is being produced, is a semi-permanent state of affairs and that weak trades will make it a semi-permanent aspect of the seasons.
