Ocean Entry Lava Flow Pau? - Kapoho Joe - 11-20-2017 Say it ain't so! Maybe the tourii traffic will slowdown in the new year... RE: Ocean Entry Lava Flow Pau? - PaulW - 11-20-2017 If I understand correctly, it's just the case that there's no plume any more at the ocean entry. I hope this doesn't mean the lava is repositioning itself for another go at Pahoa. RE: Ocean Entry Lava Flow Pau? - Obie - 11-20-2017 It's all still headed in the same direction and the entry plume is off and on right now . RE: Ocean Entry Lava Flow Pau? - leilanidude - 11-21-2017 https://volcanoes.usgs.gov/volcanoes/kilauea/multimedia_webcams.html Link to the USGS webcams RE: Ocean Entry Lava Flow Pau? - Eric1600 - 11-21-2017 The webcams don't show the ocean entry. RE: Ocean Entry Lava Flow Pau? - kalakoa - 11-21-2017 repositioning itself for another go at Pahoa Shutting down the new shopping center before it's even built... RE: Ocean Entry Lava Flow Pau? - leilanidude - 11-21-2017 If I were them, I would create a giant berm to channel any future flow, but claim it is for noise abatement or security reasons. Waiting until it is already on the way and saying it is for lava diversion seems to not be acceptable to some folks. RE: Ocean Entry Lava Flow Pau? - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 11-21-2017 giant berm to channel any future flow, but claim it is for noise abatement or security reasons. They're at a naturally occurring high point anyway, Malama Shopping center is low, and the road to the dump is low, so the lava might flow around it on it's own or with minimal "abatement." Of course, if they end up a shopping kipuka, they might have to close down at least until things cool off. “Facts fall from the poetic observer as ripe seeds.” -Henry Thoreau RE: Ocean Entry Lava Flow Pau? - glinda - 11-21-2017 quote:I think.. https://volcanoes.usgs.gov/observatories/hvo/webcam.html?webcam=HPcam looks out over the coast and the ocean entry plume, when present, is very clear. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I have seen it there before. Maybe someone with more knowledge of this will confirm or deny. RE: Ocean Entry Lava Flow Pau? - bluesboy - 11-21-2017 yes, HPcam is viewing the ocean entry and coastal plain. it is visible when it is there. the HVO daily update provides an explanation to all these questions. most of the activity is at the upper flow field. https://volcanoes.usgs.gov/volcanoes/kilauea/elevated.html |
