It appears to adapt a generator inlet to accept a regular household plug. Obviously it would have limitations on it's use but was wondering if anybody had actual experience using them. I've seen similar adapters used for RVs without any problems but they usually have a 3 prong inlet.

Wonder what the smoke output is on that thing.

Should work unless something beyond the L14-30 was actually expecting 220V.

Looks like that plug does two things: It lets you plug into a 15 amp receptacle instead of one rated for 30 amps. It also lets you plug into a single pole plug instead of a 2 pole plug. Basically it puts two 30 amp loads on a single 15 amp supply. All this because standard 15 amp receptacles are so much more common than the 2-pole 30 amp kind.

Should work OK as long as you exercise sufficient discipline WRT what you turn on downstream of this plug. I agree with Kalakoa about loads that actually need to use both poles at once to get 220V. Not sure if it will release smoke but it won't work for those loads.

Not sure if it will release smoke but it won't work for those loads.

Extent of smoke/damage will vary with the specific appliance. Most 220V appliances (eg, electric dryer) have 110V components that will work fine (motor, timer/controller) but the 220V side will see an effective 0V.

Dare I ask what terracore is trying to accomplish here?

I want to run my entire house off a Ryobi battery.

But since that isn't possible, my house has a 30 amp plug for running it off a generator (properly wired through a transfer switch) and in one of my crazy experiments I've actually ran the house off a regular 12v inverter (everything essentially shutoff, just parasitic loads etc, though I did run a fridge and ceiling fan for testing purposes) but it used a similar plug without the two hots bridged (only half the circuits worked).

But if I try the plug out, I will definitely run my house off a Ryobi battery routed through an inverter into the plug and therefore into the house. Just for my street creds.
