Camping - AKpilot - 03-12-2018 Hey guys, I'm looking to do a little camping while my place is getting painted. I know there are a few cabins on the mountain hunters use. Hapuna is all booked, I can't seem to be able to book Miloli'i. Isn't there a cabin on a sandy beach in Ka'u. You have to hike a long ways tp get there (8-ish miles if I recall) Any ideas? Mahalos! AKpilot We're all here, because we're not all there! RE: Camping - riversnout - 03-13-2018 You might be able to camp here without reservations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QEsRVOfUTs RE: Camping - Carey - 03-13-2018 Along with the county camping link (which includes the cabins up on Mauna Kea Park, on Saddle) Ho`okena camping is beachside, run through this group, Just south of Pu`uhonua o Honaunau: http://hookena.org/camping.html Kalopa is a nice (though maybe rainy right now) camp above Honokaa: https://camping.ehawaii.gov/camping/all,details,1686.html http://dlnr.hawaii.gov/dsp/camping-lodging/hawaii/ &, of course, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park has cabins, improved campsites & back-country camping (as long as there is no shutdown while you are planning your camping.: https://www.nps.gov/havo/planyourvisit/camp.htm RE: Camping - Midnight Rambler - 03-13-2018 AKpilot - if you're talking about the one on the west side of the South Point cliff, it's private (KS I believe). On the east side of Kau there are only a few sandy beaches and I know none of them have cabins. RE: Camping - AKpilot - 03-15-2018 I live very close to Kalopa and am aware of the others. I believer I may be thinking of the KS cabin, it's from an old book I have back on the mainland. Mahalo! AKpilot We're all here, because we're not all there! |
