Red Cross Responds to Kaua‘i Flooding - Obie - 04-16-2018 Red Cross Responds to Kaua‘i Flooding http://bigislandnow.com/2018/04/16/red-cross-responds-to-kauai-flooding/ Seems like they have feet on the ground and are doing something. Guess some will bitch that they flew there on an airplane and wasted that money when they could have paddled over ! RE: Red Cross Responds to Kaua‘i Flooding - TomK - 04-16-2018 Obie - my advice to you would let others boast of you, not yourself. You could have just provided the Red Cross link and said donations are being accepted for those on Kauai. Many in Puna can't afford to give donations anywhere near as large as yours and your post may cause offense. On the other hand, thank you for caring about those affected by the flooding. RE: Red Cross Responds to Kaua‘i Flooding - PaulW - 04-16-2018 Thanks Obie, very generous of you. I hope you’re not facing a barrage of endless calls from the charity industry. RE: Red Cross Responds to Kaua‘i Flooding - SBH - 04-17-2018 Obie - I appreciate your good intentions, but the Red Cross may not be the best or most efficient resource to donate to. https://www.propublica.org/article/the-corporate-takeover-of-the-red-cross http://www.slate.com/articles/business/metropolis/2017/08/don_t_give_money_to_the_red_cross_we_need_a_new_way.html I’ll never give another dime to Red Cross. https://www.gofundme.com/help-kauai https://www.gofundme.com/mvc.php?route=category&term=Kauai RE: Red Cross Responds to Kaua‘i Flooding - PaulW - 04-17-2018 I'm no fan of the charity industry either, but why would you suppose gofundme is any better. Apart from the money they (gofundme.com) skim off the top, how do we know how the money is used by the recipients? RE: Red Cross Responds to Kaua‘i Flooding - SBH - 04-17-2018 That’s a chance you take with any charity, but Red Cross has a history. I’m about to write a check today to the worst charity of them all the IRS. I would much rather be sending the money directly to help the people of Hanalei and all over Kaua’i. RE: Red Cross Responds to Kaua‘i Flooding - PaulW - 04-17-2018 Thank you for your generous donation, Obie! I don't usually give to BigCharity but if I did it would probably be to the Red Cross. RE: Red Cross Responds to Kaua‘i Flooding - Guest - 04-17-2018 Only on Punaweb you will get scoldings for donating to charity. salamat Obie for your kokua RE: Red Cross Responds to Kaua‘i Flooding - Rob Tucker - 04-17-2018 You sure about that? RE: Red Cross Responds to Kaua‘i Flooding - Guest - 04-17-2018 Apologies Rob, we all here BC we do not wanna be there. Still though. Please,,, How about a little monitoring of all the petty nit and cherry picking of quotes from what appears to be a gang here ? Can't even make a post or opinion without getting dissection or bullied into I'm right and your wrong BC ______. 14 Years and look what its become. A sea of negativity. I'm speaking for many others. Please. [Moderator: I have said it before and I will say it again. I am not particularly interested in playing hall monitor at a middle school. Punaweb is intended to be a resource for Puna and a place where Puna can represent itself to the rest of the world. If petty B.S. is what it is, then that is what it is and you, RWR, are a part of that.] |
