coquis - JG-HPP - 05-13-2018 There are only a few active frogs out this morning in mid-hpp, unlike the usual cacophony. Could this mean our recent showers are more acidic? RE: coquis - ElysianWort - 05-14-2018 They used to shut-up before earthquakes. There's been so many quakes lately I wasn't sure if they were chirping through it or zipping their lips because of continual movement? The acid raid could sure do a number on them though. I think citric acid was sold as a coquicide in the past. SO2 just another type of acid, might be working on them. RE: coquis - smart.monkeee - 05-15-2018 hi JG, I think all the coquis moved to my carport here in Orchidland.... it's a symphony till the birds take over in the am. RE: coquis - MarkP - 05-15-2018 Is ash in any way equivalent to diatomaceous earth? RE: coquis - terracore - 05-15-2018 Interesting question. Volcanic ash is very sharp- scratches glass. I wonder how the snails and slugs would fare in it. Maybe okay when wet, not so well when dry? RE: coquis - pbmaise - 05-16-2018 I found an article claiming wood ash will stop snails. I think an even dusting of volcanic ash would indeed cause coqui populations to drop. Former Puna Beach Resident Now sailing in SE Asia HOT BuOYS Sailing |
