TSA Security Screener - macuu222 - 03-19-2008 I'm early retired and my wife tells me I need to get a part time job to keep busy. So I applied for a TSA Position (part-time) in Hilo Airport thinking I probably won't be accepted. They accepted my application but I have to drive to Kona to take a 2 1/2 computerized test. My question is ....Is there anyone here in Punaweb who is or was a TSA Screener? And if so...What kind of test is it? Is there anyway of studying in advance to be prepared? RE: TSA Security Screener - Les C - 03-19-2008 Check the archives. There was a woman (from Nevada?) in 2006, I think, who came to the BI and got a TSA job. She eventually left because of family issues, but I do recall that she didn't enjoy the job. RE: TSA Security Screener - jdirgo - 03-19-2008 I know one lady that is a current screener for TSA at the Hilo airport. She never mentioned the tests or anything, but she seems reasonably content with the job. But, oh, the stuff she sees in people's luggage... Pua`a S. FL Big Islander to be. RE: TSA Security Screener - pslamont - 03-19-2008 I knew the lady who came here for the job a couple years ago. She ha many issues both family and functional and returned to Las Vegas. As for the test, she said it is common sense. Nothing to study for. She indicated at that time they want people who can be polite, formal if needed and follow the rules. Anyone of average intellect and social skill will probably do fine! Oh, and he a started at just under $14/hour. ![]() Just another day in P A R A D I S E !! That seems like reasonably good input, however Laura K was a bit unstable (imho), so on most topics I wouldn't go by what she has to say. Last I heard she was spotted on a moving to Costa Rica forum--I guess that's her new target "paradise". RE: TSA Security Screener - Carolann R - 03-19-2008 What I was told about the test is to answer the questions like "a good Christian woman." Take it for what it's worth. U2 RE: TSA Security Screener - StillHope - 03-19-2008 Once I met a guy,who quit TSA because he started to have back problems (luggage lifting). He applied for the regular security with $12/h pay, which is not unusual with a decent company. RE: TSA Security Screener - rusty h - 03-19-2008 from what i have witness the TSA people in Hilo as well as on the other islands were very polite and treated people with kindness. they would ask you if they could check your carry on and would explain why they needed to. this seems to be the type of people they want to hire in Hawaii. TSA in Alaska is a different story, "from my experience." |
